After recently coming across Lorna Pinckney in the 2014 docu-series, “Finding Tomorrow,” Eli McMullen and Hamilton Glass were inspired to share her light and spirit with Richmond again because her words in that series embodied the fundamental purpose of Mending Walls RVA through her effort to building connections. Lorna Pinckney is best known as co-found er of Tuesday Verses but her influence and creative spirit guided the way for much of creative culture from Richmond, VA to Washington DC. Lorna may be gone but her light still guides the way and lives on amongst our ancestors.
I think our mural is doing exactly what it was meant to do. It’s kind of weird to make yourself a voice for change. That’s why I tried to make our youth the center focus and specifically because they often do not have a voice.
